My Favorite Things....Baby Edition

This is a must have! The Clean Shopper is a quilted fabric cover that covers the seat of a shopping cart. The picture is from their web site. I bought mine on ebay for half of what they sell for new. I actually have two. Usually Wendy or Lily want to ride in the cart too. Even if they don't use it in the front seat we will fold the cover in half and they sit on it in the back of the cart. I love being able to protect the baby from all the germs on the cart handle. It works well on the tiny carts at CVS and the giant carts at Sam's and everything in between.
I was in Walmart recently and there was a toddler in a cart with two binkies, one in her mouth and one in her hand. She was cute as a button, and we watched her rub the binkie in her hand back and forth over the cart handle, then proceed to switch it out with the one in her mouth and start all over again. I literally got chills and felt a little sick! And because this is the kind of thing my children would do I have a cover for the cart! You can also use it over the wooden high chairs in restaurants. Like I said, a must have.

My Favorite Things...Baby Edition

This is one of the prettiest favorites I have for Rose. I bought this Gap diaper bag on ebay over two years ago for Lily when we decided to use cloth diapers part time. I needed a bigger bag and this one fit the need. It's a great bag with lots of space!
I really like the leather buckles and fringe around the side pockets.
There is a nice zippered middle pocket and lots small pockets on either side of the middle section for all the baby necessities that we have to tote around. Here is a list of things that are always in my bag...

  1. extra clothes
  2. a receiving blanket to use as a nursing cover
  3. a cloth diaper for drool, or spills
  4. desitin
  5. the cute little duckie you see in the next picture. It holds roll of disposable bags for stinky diapers or wet clothes. You can buy these at Target and the rolls of bags are replaceable. This makes a great little shower gift.
  6. diapers and wipes of course!
  7. a jacket or sweater

My Favorite Things....Baby Edition

Oh how I love bathing my happy, smiley, pleasantly plump little baby!
She enjoys it too!
She smell so good after a bath with Burt's Bee's Baby Bee shampoo and wash. It's my favorite way to wash baby. It is so mild and gentle that no lotion is usually needed. But my favorite baby lotion is Burt's Bee's buttermilk lotion. A little goes a long way. The wash lasts a long time because it is so concentrated.

My Favorite Things....Baby Edition

I'm joining Sarah at Fiddledeedee, sharing my favorite things! One of the most helpful baby things I own is my Boppy nursing pillow. It helps support baby while nursing. I can't say enough about it, I'm using it right now as I type one handed, something I have become quite efficient at doing! I have a cover that can easily be removed and washes well.
I take it anywhere that I go that we will be staying for a while. I take it to church with me and leave it in the nursery until I have to go in to feed Rose.
It helps little ones "hold" baby and baby feels more supported and secure. This is our little friend Andrew holding Rose on his first visit to see her!

My Favorite Things...Baby Edition

My sling...a baby sling. I have used a sling to carry my babies for a long time, with the last 6 babies. I would have used one with Jacob, my first, if I knew they existed. I have big fat babies that grow really fast. I love them and their rolls and I love carrying them around so they can be a part of what we are doing and evidently the view is better because baby loves it too:0)

The sling allows you to carry the baby in several positions. Rose loves to "ride" like this...

This light blue one is a Nojo brand. You can find them at Wal-mart. We bought it recently at a yard sale for $2.

This is a picture of me carrying Rose at a recent Festival. After the first few minutes of looking around and smiling at people she was happy to snug in and sleep for a long time. I just can't say enough about how comfortable it is to "wear" your baby this way. I was also able to protect her from the sun. The black one is a SlingEZee by Parenting Concepts. This one is my favorite. It comes in small, medium, and large. I was also blessed to find this one second hand several years ago.
I plan to join Sarah at Fiddledeedee for more favorite things!
